Eshwarappa, Ravi met DK party leaders

MANGALORE: K S Eshwarappa, state BJP president, accompanied by party general secretary and spokesperson C T Ravi met leaders of Dakshina Kannada district unit of the party here on Sunday. The duo interacted with mandal and morcha level party functionaries for nearly four hours and took stock of the party's organisational preparedness, vis-a-vis party and the public, party and the government, and elected representatives and public.

This is the 21st district in the state that Eshwarappa and Ravi have covered as part of a pre-determined tour programme. Eshwarappa who refused to answer any queries from the media after his meeting with local BJP leaders on party organizational preparedness said, 'Please do not ask me anything now. Next time when I come, I will invite you for a briefing.'

Earlier, Ravi told reporters that the national core committee of the party will take a call on the Lokayukta report on the mining scam. CM B S Yeddyurappa is expected to return from Mauritius and in all possibility would meet the party central leaders in New Delhi on Monday, Ravi said.

On the allegation of the Lokayukta that his phone was being tapped, Ravi said the Lokayukta is empowered to suo moto investigate the same or if he prefers to lodge an official complaint, the state police too would investigate the matter.

To comments of governor H R Bhardwaj that he would initiate action based on Lok Ayukta's report, Ravi said it is in interests of all concerned if the governor does not exceed his constitutional brief.
