CBI to grill A Raja again in 2G spectrum case

Category : National |  Posted Date : 18/07/2011

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Monday permitted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to quiz afresh former telecom minister A Raja and two other accused for their alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam in the Patiala House court complex.

"Special CBI Judge O P Saini on Monday allowed CBI, which is yet to file its second supplementary chargesheet in the case, to interrogate Raja, former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura and Reliance ADAG Group MD Gautam Doshi for one hour each, in the lock up, at the court complex," Doordarshan reports.

The three accused, who will be brought to the Patiala House lock-up from the Tihar Jail, will be questioned by the CBI for one hour each between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The court had earlier on July 16 given its nod to the application of the investigating agency that it needed to question the accused afresh 'in the interest of the case'.

Former telecom Minister A. Raja was forced to resign from the Union Cabinet last year after the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) faulted him for undervaluing spectrum to favour companies who were largely ineligible for 2G spectrum, and added that the government had probably lost Rs.1.76 lakh crore in estimated revenue.
