Nagpur Metro…!!!

Phase 1…!!!

The Nagpur Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Nagpur in Maharashtra, India. It is also known as the Maha Metro and commenced its operations in March 2019. The Nagpur Metro is designed to provide a reliable and efficient mode of transportation to the residents and visitors of Nagpur.

The metro network in Nagpur currently consists of two operational lines:

Orange Line: The Orange Line stretches from Sitabuldi to Khapri, covering a distance of approximately 19.7 kilometres. It has 17 stations, including major landmarks like Nagpur Railway Station, Congress Nagar, and Airport South.

Aqua Line: The Aqua Line connects Lokmanya Nagar to Sitabuldi, covering a distance of around 7.8 kilometres. This line has five stations, including Subhash Nagar and Institute of Engineers.

The Nagpur Metro is known for its modern infrastructure, air-conditioned coaches, and seamless connectivity. It aims to provide a comfortable and sustainable mode of transport, reducing congestion and pollution in the city. The metro system has improved connectivity and accessibility for commuters, making travel easier within Nagpur.

Please note that the information provided is based on my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, and there might have been expansions or developments in the Nagpur Metro system since then. It is advisable to check for the latest updates from official sources or the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

The new rates have made it almost unaffordable for commuters especially students who use the metro daily.

Previous rates

0-6 km: Rs.5

6-12 km: Rs. 10

Above 12 km: Rs.20

Revised rates

0-2 km Rs.10

2-4 km Rs.15

4-6 km Rs.20

6-9 km Rs.25

9-12 km Rs.30

12-15 km -Rs.30

15-18 km -Rs.35

Phase 2

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, the Phase 2 expansion of the Nagpur Metro was under planning and development. The proposed Phase 2 of the Nagpur Metro aims to further expand the metro network in the city and improve connectivity to more areas.

Here are some key details about the proposed Phase 2 of the Nagpur Metro:

Orange Line Extension: The Phase 2 extension of the Orange Line is planned to stretch from Khapri to Sitabuldi Interchange. This extension will add approximately 11 kilometres to the existing Orange Line.

New Lines: Phase 2 also includes the addition of new metro lines in Nagpur. Some of the proposed new lines include the East-West Corridor, North-South Corridor, and other potential corridors to connect various parts of the city.

Integration and Interchanges: The Phase 2 expansion will focus on creating interchanges with existing metro lines to enhance connectivity and allow passengers to switch between different lines conveniently.

It's important to note that the exact timelines and details of the Phase 2 expansion of the Nagpur Metro may have changed or progressed since my last update. I recommend checking official sources such as the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation or local news outlets for the most recent and accurate information on the status and progress of the Nagpur Metro Phase 2 expansion.
